"The purpose of the society is to recognize high achievement of high school
students in the Spanish and Portuguese languages and to promote a continuing
interest in Hispanic and Portuguese studies."-Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica
This Spanish Honor Society was founded by
the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese in 1953, for the
students of North American secondary schools; and this chapter is due to the
efforts of Ms. Schiada of Bartlett High School who established it in 2000.

Our motto is: "All together."

Our
colors are: red and gold.

Our insignia and seal
are those of the mother association.
Eligibility: Juniors or Seniors who are
currently enrolled in Spanish 5-6 or 7-8 and have completed 3 consecutive
semesters with A's (or Honor's B's).
Submission of applications and Induction ceremony take place each
Spring.
Initiation Date: Monday, May 16th, 2011 at 7:00PM
in Auditorium.
